RENSE FLAMME - DEL 1

It began with a pair of freckles.

A single freckle sat on either side of the mouth on a pale teenage girl. Her red lips formed a smirk; the moment she had been waiting for had arrived. From inside a wrecked ship on Berk's rocky shores, she watched a ninety pound teenage boy walking along.

"That must be the chief's son," she said softly to herself. She slowly reached under her black dried leather skirt and wrapped her long, slender fingers around the handle of a dagger that was belted to her upper thigh.

She stopped. From around the bend came a sleek, black Night Fury. An additional five dragon riders came into view short after. She frowned.

"I can't take them all," she thought to herself, quickly letting go of the knife.

After the group dismounted their beasts they continued approaching. She listened carefully for what they were saying.

"Look, it’s the shipwreck where we found Heather!" called the young Viking with curled horns on his helmet. Then he began eagerly sprinting towards the wreckage and shouted, "Last time I found a pretty girl, and maybe I will find another treasure!"

"Oh, I want treasure!" belted the Viking with long blonde hair, who started running.

"Me too! I want a troll!" shouted the blonde girl with two long, messy braids who looked similar to the boy who had spoken before her. She broke into a dash.

"Yeah, and then Hiccup can train it for us," added the blonde boy. He head butted the girl with braids while they were bounding along side by side, their helmets clashing together giving out a loud clank.

"What?! Guys, there is no treasure. And I am not training any trolls!" Shouted the small teen Viking called Hiccup, who was visibly annoyed.

"Hiccup is right. You guys are being ridiculous," a girl with a single, well-kept blonde braid commented.

"You are the only treasure I need, girl," said the heavy Viking while rubbing the head of his lumpy dragon.

The buff teen with the spiral horn helmet was almost to the shipwreck. Panicked, the Viking girl in the shipwreck moved herself away from view and hatched a plan for her inevitable discovery by the other Vikings. And found she soon was.  When the burly teen spotted the girl in the ship, his eyes grew wide in disbelief.

"Hey, guys! I found something!" Yelled the muscular Viking to the group. He was crouched down by the opening of the ship. "Hello, beautiful. My name is Snotlout but you can call-" Snotlout was then interrupted by the long blonde haired teen boy.

"Wow, a girl! Hi I'm Tuffnut and this is my lame sister Ruffnut," he said gesturing to the similar looking Viking. Ruffnut promptly punched him in the gut.

"It's no fair. I wanted a troll," huffed Ruffnut as she crossed her arms in disappointment. Her brother gripped his stomach.

"Wait, maybe she's a huldra," gasped Tuffnut. He quickly crawled through the threshold.

"What are you-" before she could finish her sentence Tuffnut suddenly lifted up the back of her skirt to check for a tail. The girl grabbed collar of his shirt and punched him dead in the face. After watching this through the opening, Hiccup and the girl with the blonde braid quickly crawled through the threshold and each grabbed one of her arms; pulling her away from Tuffnut.

"Ow, that really hurt... I like her," squeaked Tuffnut in pain.

After breaking free the girl started to walk away.

"Hiccup," whispered the blonde braided girl. "We should take her to your father. I don't think that she's from Berk. Did you see the black war paint around her eyes?"

"That's a good idea, Astrid. You know what to do," replied Hiccup.

"Stormfly!" called Astrid. It caught the attention of the blue spiky dragon. Astrid performed a series of hand movements and then Stormfly began flying towards the girl. Seeing the dragon soar towards her, she started running back towards the shipwreck. But the dragon was faster. Stormfly closed in on her; grabbing the girl's shoulders and knocking her to the ground. Stormfly contently sat on her like a nesting bird. "Good girl, Stormfly," said Astrid while walking up with Hiccup at her side.

"What do you think you're doing!?" Asked the girl furiously while trying to escape.

"Sorry about that, but you are a stranger to the island so we need to take you to the chief," replied Hiccup.

"I am no threat to you! Look, my parents were murdered by pirates and I was stranded here," said the girl with some difficulty because she was still struggling with the bird-like dragon.

Hiccup and Astrid looked at each other. Astrid whispered to Hiccup, "sounds a lot like what Heather said."

"But she could be telling the truth," replied Hiccup.

"I am really sorry to hear that happened to you. You have our apologies," Hiccup said sincerely the girl. "But the chief will want to meet you."

"It doesn't seem like I have a choice now does it. Who are you anyway?" asked the girl, pretending not to have recognized Hiccup.

"Oh! Sorry I haven't introduced myself sooner. My name is Hiccup and this is Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut and Tuffnut," said Hiccup while gesturing to each person.

"Yes, I have met some of you already," she said with her dark brown eyes piercing Tuffnut, who smiled and waved back obliviously. "She totally digs me," he said quietly to Snotlout.

"So what's your name?" asked Hiccup.

 "It’s Tuva," she said.

"Well Tuva, how about we go meet my father?" said Hiccup.

Tuva silently stared at him without a trace of enthusiasm. "Whatever will get me out from under this dragon."

There was a long uncomfortable silence.

"Um, okay. Well, guys, we should get going now," said Hiccup trying to sound as friendly and natural as possible under the blanket of awkwardness.

The teens mounted their dragons. As Astrid climbed onto Stormfly, Tuva spoke.

"Wait, you can't be serious. I am not going to fly in the claws of a dragon."

"Yep, you sure are!" said Astrid cheerfully.

 "No. You're joking," said Tuva.

"Astrid, why doesn't she ride with me on Toothless?” suggested Hiccup.

Astrid eyes shot daggers into Hiccup as she mouthed the word “What?!”

“It will be fine, Astrid. Trust me.”

“Stormfly,” Astrid called to her dragon ever her should while her eyes were still set on Hiccup. “Drop it.”

Tuva angrily scrambled away from the beast on her hands and knees towards Hiccup. He extended his hand toward her in order to help her off the ground but in her rage she disregarded it. She stood up and quickly brushed the sand off her clothing.

Hiccup mounted his Night Fury and then turned his attention to Tuva. “Hop on up,” Hiccup called to her. He patted the part of the saddle behind him twice.

 “And if I refuse?”

“You can ride with us,” said Astrid with a huge smirk.

Tuva clenched her fists and walked toward Hiccup. She froze in terror when the beast Hiccup was mounted on began snarling at her.

“Hey, bud. It’s okay. She isn't going to hurt you,” Hiccup consoled his dragon. The creature continued to growl. “Toothless,” Hiccup said with his eyebrows raised and hands on his hips while looking down at him. Toothless was not convinced. Hiccup jumped down off the dragon’s back and walked over to Tuva.

“Here, give me your hand,” asked Hiccup

“What?! No! Are you NUTS?! First you ask me to ride a dragon with you, now you want me to hold hands?! Not happening,” Tuva exclaimed in furious disbelief.

“I’m a nut. Tuffnut to be exact,” chimed in Tuffnut. “I’ll hold your hand.”
